lipsense giveaway.

So since Monday's can be kind of a drag..
I'm sweetening things up and doing a fun giveaway to make your manic Monday a little brighter!
I'm a big fan of all things beauty-
and lately I've been noticing lots of buzz around Lipsense glosses.
They're lipsticks that can last up to 18 hours.
Pretty much kiss-proof, smudge proof and water proof.
So I kinda had to test them out!
Drum roll please...

Legitimately did not come off.
I put it on at 7:00 AM and had a full day of running around, errands and a couple events and it was still on when I took my make up off that night.
It's tried and true people.

I used the color Kathy's Kisses along with the Lipsense Moisturizing Gloss and loved it.
I kiss Liam like, all day long.
And hardly wear lipstick because I obvi don't want it to get on him.
But this is a total game changer.
So much so that partnering up with Ashley Schafer from Fairytale Kisses- Makeup Wishes to giveaway one Lipsense lipstick and one Lipsense gloss!!
That's HUGE- a $55.00 value!
Ashley is a SeneGence distributor and has soooo many pretty colors of Lipsense to choose from!
If you mention this blog post you can get free shipping on all orders.
Pretty great right?!

Another reason I love this Lipstick is because it's vegan, gluten free and no animal testing.
That last point is big in my book.
Hash tag crazy animal lady.
The gloss also is a great moisturizer so your lips don't get chapped.
Woot woot.

If you wanna chance to win some really great Lipsense product all you gotta do is:

1. Like this Instagram photo
2. Follow myself and Ashley on Instagram
3. Tag some friends in separate comments. The more tags, the more chances to win!
Bonus entries: Like Newlywed Diaries and join Fairytale Kisses- Makeup Wishes on Facebook.

That's it!
Some quick reminders-
Your Instagram account must be public so I can contact yah.
And the giveaway will end on Thursday September 1st at 9:00 MST.
I'll announce the winner on Friday!

Lipsense is kinda the best thing ever, so Liam and I wish yah the best of luck!
And hopefully this makes your Monday a bit better!

sleep tips when traveling with bebe.

Happy Friday!!

Woot woot it's almost the weekend-
and guess what?!
Can I get an amen?!
It's only for the weekend, then he's back on the road for good ole residency interviews-
but it'll be SO nice to have him home for a couple nights.

I wanted to chat a little about how I kept my cool and slept well while traveling this summer!
I'm such a routine person and creature of habit-
so as much as I wanted to travel with Liam, I was a bit worried about messing up his sleep schedule and being a zombie while on vacation.
This summer we've gone on 10 plane flights, had lots of hotel stays, camping trips, long car rides and enjoyed some beach days too {on both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts}.
And after all this traveling I've learned a few sleeping tips that have saved Liam's routine and my sanity!
Oh and double plus, it's made the transition home a little easier too.
So I thought I'd share them with yah in case you're planning on traveling with your little anytime soon!
They're super simple, but super helpful:

Go with the flow!

Simplicity is key. Slow and steady wins the race. Stop and smell the roses. You get the gist right?! Well same thing goes with your baby. When you're on vacation, it sounds weird to say but, lower your expectations.
And I mean that in the best of ways!
I used to plan our trips down to a T.
We would literally have an Excel sheet of places we'd wanna see, complete with times, costs and transportation.
We went to five states this summer, had an absolute blast, and I didn't have a single itinerary with us!
Mind you, I did have some ideas obviously of what I wanted to do.
But we kept it super easy going and relaxed.
Because traveling with a little {especially if you're alone} can be tough just getting up, fed, showered, dressed, ready and out the door by lets say, 8:00 AM.
So give yourself time and grace.
And be realistic.
In Seattle we wanted to be outta the house at 10:00 each morning, but realistically it was 11:30-
And that was okay!
We let Liam take his nap before we left, caught a later ferry and still got to check out Pike Place and have a really fun afternoon.
So if your baby falls asleep in the car, but that museum tour starts in 10 minutes-
let him sleep and find something else to do!
Then sit back and relax while he snoozes and take a little time to yourself.
Because I promise if you just let the cookie crumble and go at your family's pace, everyone will have a better time.

Stay in your time zone!

When we went to the East Coast, Zak was 3 hours ahead of us!
That's a big difference.
Liam and I stayed on MST so that way we could keep his napping the same and not throw him off.
Remember step one, go with the flow?!
Welp, this is a perfect example of just that.
While we'd be ready to go at 10:30 each morning, it was really 1:30 Zak's time so it seemed like the day was half way over!
But we just said "oh well!"and made the most of the time we had.
Zak adjusted for our time difference and everything worked out!
I do have to admit though, think about flight times when sticking to your time zone.
Our departure flight was like 5:00 AM in VA, which was really 2:00 AM in AZ-
so we were both zonked on the plane and it felt like the longest flight ever....
but hey!
When we got home we both napped and then got right back on our schedule like nothing ever happened!

Stick to your bed time routine no matter what!

It's soooo easy to wanna just say, "let's skip bath time" while on vacation and just cuddle up as soon as you make it back to your hotel room-
trust us we've been there!
Especially after a really long day, when everyones super tired.
Sticking to your routine just helps the little to know when it's time to settle down and go to sleep.
With all the fun stuff going on while traveling, it's good to have some consistency-
and that's where your bed time routine comes in.
So whatever it is you do each night to go to sleep-
bring that on the road with yah and stick to it!
For us it's dinner for Liam {solid food}, bath time, jammies, a book and prayer while I nurse him to sleep.
And tickle his cute little hand too.
Because it's the sweetest thing in the world, and he asks for it each time we lie down.
Melts my mama heart!

Nested Bean Sleep Sack

Liam did awesome sleeping on the go!
He would literally sleep for like two hours during our long car rides, which was soooo nice for Zak and I!
It was like a little date night in the car.
But, when we got back home and weren't on the go in the car so much those long naps turned into.... cat naps.
I got a little help from the Nested Bean Zen Sleep Sack, which simulates the pressure from a mother's touch with a lightly weighted pad.
It helps the baby feel as secure as being held in your arms, after you lie them down.
I started using it as soon as we got home and can totally notice that Liam sleeps longer while wearing it.
It's the little things in life, like an extra 20 minutes of nap time AKA "me time" that makes this mama's world go round.

I hope some of these little pointers helped.
They're very short and sweet to make traveling less stressful and more enjoyable for you and your family.

Have a lovely day!

six month beach babe.

Happy six months to the happiest baby boy I know!
It's crazy that you've only been with us for 6 months, because I know deep in my heart that I've known you forever and that we met a long long time ago.
It's such an incredible feeling.
Not to get too sappy, because this boy makes me emotional, literally could happy cry over just the way he looks at me, but this is a huge milestone for Liam.
He's not a little babe anymore.
He's a big babe now!
He weighs 21 lbs, he's 28.5 in long and he's in the 99th percentile for both!
I told yah, BIG babe!
His rolls just keep getting yummier and yummier everyday!
And he's also a great arm workout;)

This week he just started sitting up on his own, I don't ever leave him because he's still a little wobbly, but he's growing up so much!
And he's rolling over more and more each day too!
We got him a little bouncer earlier this month and he just goes crazy in it-
kicking his little legs and working his chubby thighs!

He also just started babbling and says "dadadadad" and it seriously makes our day!
Like both Zak and I's faces just light up when we hear him start chirping away.
It's the cutest new voice he has and you can see him try so hard to spit out the sounds.
Literally adorableness overload.

Lets see he also...

- bites onto anything and everything- including mamas face!
- loves water bottles
- likes to pet and grab Romie {thank goodness Romie is so tolerant and doesn't mind a bit}
- he started grabbing his diaper and has successfully taken it off once
- eats solid foods, just started having lunches this week!
- hates peas
- will open his mouth when I say "give mama kisses!"
- is very good at Skyping and Facetiming
- will stop still in his tracks if you start reciting The Cat in The Hat {it's his favorite!}
- loves to cuddle up and nurse {his mamas favorite thing in the whole wide world}
- smiles at everything
- has been called the Gerber Baby a billion times
- shakes his head back and forth when I say, "go crazy, go crazy"
- loves to just roll around and play all day long
- his favorite spot is riding shot gun on mama's hip
- is getting over his hatred of car seats
- is a toy hoarder
- has a million nick names
- loves to play the "I'm going to get you!" game
- babbles away
- naps about three times a day
- and is the sweetest little soul you ever did meet!

I have strangers stop me in public and say he has "the prettiest blue eyes they've ever seen!"
Along with, "wow he's so cute and chubby!"
And a few, "how much does he weigh?!"
He's seriously the happiest and chubbiest and cutest and sweetest baby in the entire world.
I don't know how the heck Zak and I got so lucky.
We love this little guy more than words can say-
He's our everything.
Happy six months Liam, you are the biggest blessing in our life and we love you so sweetheart!

virginia's for lovers.

Liam and I are back from our week long stay in Virginia!
We could have stayed for many more.
Zak's visiting a couple hospitals out there for residency so we tagged along for a bit of the ride.
First and foremost I'd like to say that the East Coast gets hot.
Not as hot as AZ obvi, but lets just say humid heat is a doozy.
And not too fun.
BUTT we made the most of our time.
Here's a little travel diary from our trip!

Liam and I flew out- he's such a good baby you guys!
Not one peep on the plane.
Just played and napped, played and napped.
And I was worried the flight might mess up his bedtime routine, but thank the heavens he wasn't fazed.

Our first stop was to a military beach on Friday night.
This was our first time ever being on a base beach, and let me tell you-
it's SO nice.
Quiet, clean and pretty.
Totally our scene.

Liam and I napped and nursed all afternoon.
It was really sweet and super relaxing after a night of traveling.

Zak took Liam out to the water, he's now been in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans!
It took Zak and I 25 years to cross that off our bucket lists.
Seeing these two reunite was so cute!
Liam totally recognized Zak as soon as we got close in the airport and was all excited to see him.
Their bond is unmatchable.

We had quite the fun time {hence the sarcasm} keeping Liam's little grabby hands away from the sand-
this boy would snatch that sand and bring it up to his mouth so quick!
Hahaha we were a mess.
Thank goodness for outdoor showers to rinse off at before piling into the car.
Anywho, this was by far our favorite beach.
If we end up in VA, I could totally see this being a favorite spot of ours.

The following day we headed out to see historical Williamsburg-
it's one of the first colonies and such a charming little town.
Seriously, the whole time I kept saying, "this is the cutest place ever!"
If you're in Virginia, you gotta check it out.
All of the architecture looks like it was made back in the day-
complete with cobble stone roads, brick buildings, old churches, farms, picket fences and even people wearing traditional clothing too!
It was darling you guys!!
The bad news though, it that it was SO HOT outside.
We kept ducking inside shops because the humidity was horrible.
I couldn't even use our nice camera to take pics because the lens kept fogging up!
So sadly, I don't have many photos.
But, I promise you-
this place is adorable.

We spent the whole day just walking around checking everything out.
Just as the sun started to set, and it was cooling down Liam fell asleep so Zak and I were able to just linger around and have a mini date you could call it;)
We even got to have a little dinner before he woke up!
Gotta love parenthood.
The waitress was so sweet though and put us in our room for supper, so we kinda felt fancy!

Afterwards we headed for dessert, obviously.
And ordered way too much ice cream.
It was a really really good day.
Williamsburg was about an hour away, and Liam slept both there and back so Zak and I got to just catch up and talk the whole time.
The drives were kinda my favorite part of this trip.
Not that I don't love adventuring with Liam, but having that alone time to just chit chat with my best friend was so good for my soul.

On Sunday we kinda laid low all day, since it was so hot-
but then went down to the Virginia Beach boardwalk for dinner.
This is kid is too funny!
He squeals and laughs and giggles so much now-
it's seriously the best sound in the world!
I'm so glad Zak got to have some down time with him in the middle of all of this residency business-
it was well needed for the both of them!

Yay for super grainy iPhone pics-
this was the best group shot we got, and I love it.
These two guys {and Romie} make my world go round.

This trip I told Zak, "I wanna have some really good seafood!" since yah know, we were on the East Coast and all-
so we found a little place with a sweet view of the ocean as the sun was setting.
Zak got fish and steak tacos and I opted for a grilled fish burger-
super good!

Liam loves to be outside, so we walked around the boardwalk for a bit until it got dark.
It's so fun to see him see things for the first time!
Such a cool experience.
Traveling with him was one of the best decisions we've made-
he just loves to check things out and he's so aware of his surroundings.

We love you so much Liam!

The last couple days were a bit of a whirlwind!
We ended up going to D.C. so Zak could interview for another program, and Liam and I obviously tagged along for the ride!
We originally planned to take the Metro downtown, however there was a heat advisory out so we opted for a relaxed day in the hotel and explored the base a bit.
We got in super late-
and the only thing that was open was sushi lol so we had a little room service party that night and caught the end of the Olympics.
Little moments like that I wanna remember forever!
So simple, so sweet.
Just good ole family time.

I think I'm getting pretty good hotel days with Liam-
and figuring out what to do when we only have a bed and the ground to play on lol.
He's such a good traveler though, and so content with whatever.
As long as he can nurse, he's good to go!
Haha so many people stopped me this trip and would be like,
"wow your baby is so healthy!" and "is he eight or nine months old?" {he just turned six months lol} and then I loved the "how much does he weigh?!"
HAHA he loves to eat okay?!
He's chubby and we love it.

You should follow me on Snap Chat {Sidney Hambsch} to see more of Liam and I's adventures.
Or just selfies.
Cuz lets be real, we all just do it for the filters.

We weren't sure what time Zak's interview would be over, so I didn't have any expectations of seeing any of the monuments or anything in D.C., but then I got a call from him late in the afternoon and he was like, "wanna head down there?!" And I obvi said "of course!"
We quickly packed up our stuff and made the drive down to the city.
Liam and I had a super early flight the next morning, and we were about 3 hours away from where we were staying in VA, so we couldn't visit for too long-
but we did get to see the White House!
Woot woot.

It's that tiny little spec way back there!
Hahaha does this even count?!

We drove around, in awe of everything!
It's so pretty!
And there's so much to see.
I'm really glad we drove down {even during rush hour}, because who knows the next time we'll be there!
Sometimes spontaneity is the best.

We picked up some classy Chick Fila for dinner and drove back to Virginia that night.
Liam slept the whole way, so Zak and I got to visit all about his day and all the things that lie ahead of us.
So many changes coming our way, and it's so exciting!
Like, he'll graduate in the spring-
and this time next year we'll be living in a different state!
We always wanted to travel and adventure around the world, and we're sure on that track now.
I love it.
The next morning, like early early morning Liam and I said our sad goodbyes and boarded our plane back to Phoenix.
I keep telling myself it's only eight more days, then we get to see him for a weekend, another ten days and then we'll be back together for good.
We. Can. Do. This.
Liam was stellar on the flights.
Six hours on a plane isn't easy for anyone, and this baby made it seem like a cake walk!
We were stuck in the middle seat too and he still did amazing.
The people next to us kept saying he was an angel baby, and the sweetest, smiliest little guy.
They're sure right.
I don't know how Zak and I got so lucky!
Liam thanks for being the best travel buddy!

^^This photo was taken just as the sun was rising in Chicago-
pretty cool view huh?!
We had a super fun time hanging out with Zak for the week, and already miss him like crazy.
Very grateful though for the time we got together, and to be able to fly out and see him!
Hope you enjoyed another little travel diary of mine, and thanks so much for following along with all our adventures this summer-
Love sharing it all with yah!
